The challenge: a rest for the senses

Lamps, logos, back-lit adverts: visiting the Rotmain-Center in Bayreuth always provides a plethora of sensory experiences. Our challenge was to create an eye-catching landmark in this sea of colour and shapes which would allow the eye some rest.

The design: A gently glowing jewel

Well-known brands compete for the favours of visitors to the Rotmain-Center. In order to distinguish this project from the generally loud interior design, we designed it so that it would glow quietly against a blue backdrop. The gleaming orange-red bar attracts the eye even from a distance. With gentle curves it leads the visitor into a jewellery box containing gastronomic and design delights.

Sparkling chandeliers echo the amber tones of the bar, sending lively reflections over the simple walls and furniture of the restaurant. In the kitchen area the colour scheme becomes more playful – instead of the deep blue, here there are glass mosaic tiles in a variety of different tones forming a contrast with the orange colour of the bar.

Kerstin Heyroth: 'In a location busy with message and impressions, we placed an emphasis here on minimalism.'
