The challenge: Creating a bridge to the exterior

Situated in lively Hamburg-Ottensen, this project offered us the opportunity of linking the interior of the bistro with a forecourt, thus creating a unique outdoor space for the restaurant.

The design: one continuous line
We collaborated with designer, Alexander Wedell, on the design of the bok asia bistro in Hamburg Ottensen. The result is a spacious scheme in warm colours, which creates a really friendly ambience.

The glass façade, which can be opened fully when required, gives a free view out onto the street allowing interior and exterior space to merge.

In order to emphasise this inner-outer connection even further, we extended the flooring, made in coated cast asphalt, right out into the street space. The stripes take up the design of the bok logo, providing a quiet backdrop to the patterns of the interior walls and the hanging lamps radiating their warm light.

Kerstin Heyroth: 'Although we do have to take a company's corporate identity into consideration in our designs, we develop a unique scheme for each site. Our aim is to create unity in diversity.'
