| The challenge: building on a limited budget |
| Our budget for this project was low, but the demand for
living space of an excellent quality for families was, nonetheless, high. In
addition the authorities who had organised the competitive tender had made it a
requirement that architect and construction companies work closely with one
another. |

| The design: turning a small house into a large
one |
Keeping an eye on your children while having
a chat with your neighbour. Three slightly staggered rows of terraced houses
enclose a communal green space, leading to individual private gardens. Each
house has its own terrace where one can sit undisturbed and enjoy the sun and
the well-established trees.
|
| By keeping corridors to a minimum, we
were able to organise rooms for a family of five on a plan of only 103 m²: a
large living room, a spacious kitchen and a bedroom for each child. The
open-plan kitchen on the ground floor doubles as a second living room. Glazing
to the side of the doors ensures a view to the outside while giving the feel of
spaciousness.

'The whole house is really great, lovely and full of light.' - ‘The large
kitchen is wonderful!' |
